Since Biblical times the fish, or 'icthus', has been a symbol used by Christians as an identifying mark. 'Icthus' is an acronym that stands for 'Jesus Christ Son of God Saviour'. It is also the Greek word for fish.

The symbol of the fish was used by early Christians to identify each other when they were being persecuted for their faith. They used the 'icthus' symbol to mark their homes and traced it in the dirt when they met each other, showing that they shared the same faith. Today the fish is still used as a symbol of Christianity.

  • As a Christian educational community, we have chosen the icthus symbol to represent the essence of our school as being Christ centred.
  • The secondary element of the water ripple, with the cool blue and green tonings, reflects the link in our school name to the Pacific Region.
  • Finally, the tail has been created in an upward orientation to form a cross, symbolising the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus.
